Does the CD play fine in other players?
Check in Device manager and see if there are yellow ! marks next to your devices. You may have to update the drivers

The drive does the same with all cds ( and actually always did, it has not JUST gone faulty ). It is fitted into my acer aspire 5630 laptop which I purchased with vista as the operating system.( I cannot remember whether it worked then ). I hated vista so immediately replaced it with a dual boot system using windows 7 and windows xp. this drive does this with both systems and all of my searches for drivers are unsuccessfull. obviously its an old drive now.
