Comment:

Basically... my laptop constantly overheats. For example, i can't even watch a 30 minute tv show, with the laptop on my lap, as it just ends up overheating, and shutting itself down automatically, no warning or nothing.

I got the laptop last christmas, but it started this like 4-5 months ago.

I'm not really a "tech" expert, or good with technical terms. So, any help would be appreciated, and even more so if you make it simple.

Cheer's,
Gaz

P.S: If there's anything else you need to know, just ask.

Using a lap top on your lap is probably the worst place to use it.

Most laptops have air intakes underneath or the side. Putting it on your lap and these air vent can get blocked or restricted by you clothes. A solid surface is much better.

Thank's Aegis, i'll give this a try.

@ Stuart: I usually sit the laptop inbetween my knee's, so that air does get to it, even had it on a flat surface since the 4 rubber bits on the bottom are spposed to give enough room for air, yet my laptop still overheats. =/
Edit: Ok, i opened my laptop and cleaned it. Damn, there was one BIG chunk of dirt covering the exhaust or whatever. Guess that's my problem.. Anyway, my fan is actually quite silent? But i'll leave my lappy running and see what happens and let you know.

Thanks.

as u discovered and been stated
always keep the fans and exhausts clear
otherwise they will over heat in a ny minute

laptop coolers are on sale from time to time
for less than $10
http://shop4.frys.com/search?search...

i have an air compressor (or goto a garage)
and shoot air through the fans and exhaust alternatively it will force out all sorts of dirt and dust from the cpu and etc.
when the cpu gets a coating of dust its like a thermal vest .. keeps it nice and toasty.

also download speedfan
its free monitors your temperatures
and fans..
