Often just a can of compressed air sold at computer and office supply stores to blow out the dust build up from the laptop's vents is enough. When it is not enough, often the build up is enough to stop the internal fan from turning which may need disassembly of the laptop to fix. The next possibility is that the fan itself is no longer good and needs replacing. Other possibilities are best left out of discussing until these more common ones are checked out.
