My laptop is having a slight problem

When I press on button the lights(num lock, power etc) flash for a microsecond then die. no sound or anything. I can keep doing this. I have tried two power cables. and still nothing. When power is on the light at front is perminently on and has now turned green indicating it is full.

any suggestions?

hey, iv had similar situations like this with one of my business laptops and it seemed to be either a possibility that it was the fan on the CPU or the Power supply its self, but i cud be wrong, hope that kinda helps a little bit.

One of the BIGGEST problems with laptops is the power connector.... after 1000 or so connects/disconnects, the power socket comes lose from the pc board inside the machine. The connection may still be there but lose enough to cause a lack of current to flow. The battery picks up the slack until it is dead. Because of the lose connection there is not enough current to charge the battery AND run the computer.

Mac computers BTW, has come up with a brilliant answer for this... their new connector doesn't actually physically connect or push in to the machine... it instead is HELD TO the machine by magnetizm... the current flows through the magnets.... nothing to wear out and the connection easily breaks if someone trips over the cord!!!

Anyway... easy to test... Take the battery out, and try to boot the machine with the power cord alone... no boot... you have a bad connection. If it does boot, then gently wiggle the power jack around a little and see if the machine shuts down.

Have you tried removing the battery and then connecting to the AC power?

Life is more painless for those who are brainless.
