I have quite an odd problem with my laptop. It quit charging the battery but is still somehow running off the adapter. However, if I remove the battery it doesn't turn on at all. I have been using the computer for about a week like this. The battery meter in windows says the batery is at 91% (6400 hrs and 38 minutes!) I thought it was the power jack on the motherboard so I replaced it but it is still doing the same thing! Any ideas?
By the way, I am currently using a universal adaptor that I got at Best Buy (rocket fish). Could this be the problem? I've been using it for five months and it was working just fine.

You don't think the battery has died? How old is it? Batteries do wear out.

The battery is less than a year old and it was lasting 5 hours before this started happening. I would have suspect the battery but the computer will not funtion with just the power adapter pluged. The battery doesn't seem to be the porblem.
