help!!!!! my laptop shut down on me last night and it booted back up ok, but now my mouse pad wont work at all, cant get it to move an inch, i was at the time chatting to my friend on msn which ive done loads of times before so that cant be the reason, please help, my laptop is useless without the pad not working.. dawn

Shut it down, then restart it pressing F8 before windows loads. Choose Last Known Good Configuration and let er go. If not you might try a system restore to before that happened.
Another thing you could do is look in device manager and check out to make sure no problems with mouse driver. You can remove it, restart computer and should reinstall automatically. If not it's not like your losing your mouse since it already isn't working.
