I was wondering if you can change the motherboard for laptops. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1150. Does anyone know? Because I don't think I can change the video card for laptop motherboards unless you buy the brand new top of the line ones. So I was thinking to buy a new motherboard for my laptop that can change video cards and buy a new video card. If thats possible. Can anyone help?

The overall answer to your question is yes.
But ...
Motherboard makers for laptops are a very clannish lot, yes, I do know.
The chances of you or any other individual being able to buy one single motherboard from them range from nil to no-way.
If, by some miracle you actually managed to find a company that would be willing to sell you one, what they would charge you for it would put you off. It's not only the m/board but all the periphrials you would need.
If you were to calculate the cost you would find out that buying a newer laptop is the best option.
I do know that restrictive practises are used in laptop building, the joe public is just not part of the circle. Sorry to be so negative but that's the way it is.Think about getting a newer one.

Even in the top of the line laptops, you can't upgrade the video card unless another one has been designed to fit that model.
For about half the cost of a laptop motherboard, you could buy a fairly decent desktop computer. Use this for games and keep the laptop for mobile uses.

of course you can always do a search on ebay - chances are that there'e a laptop like yours that's being sold without memory, HD and the rest.. so try that.. but it's a gamble
