This could be a silly question, but...

My IBM T41 laptop has two memory slots with 1 slot occupied by PC2100 1GB stick.

I am considering to get another 1G stick, but hegitate to spend $100 on an obsolete PC2100 memory.

Can I use PC2700(or up) with existing PC2100 memory?

Well technically all DDR RAM is somewhat obsolete. That said, I see your point. I suggest you try Crucial.com and use thier configurator. They usually list all possible memory options. DDR 2700 would probably be cheaper anyway, if it will work. I think laptops can be finiky about RAM.
