Hi All,

I have HP 9000 laptop with vista ultimate loaded recently. I have set in the power options "do nothing" when I close the laptop lid. So now when I close in the middle of work and open it back, the display does not come back by itself. But when I put the laptop in standby, close the lid and then open the lid back...the computer comes back from standby and display also comes back on. I am not able to understand whats happening here. I hope I am clear enough to explain.

second is that, all the "Fn" functions do not work. the keys used to increase and decrease the brightness of the screen do not work and hence unable to brighten up the display at all.

Help me. Thank you in advance.

Gopal Krishna

PS : I have 64bit version. The Fn keys for brightness do work until vista is loaded completely. Once vista is loaded with everything the brightness does not work.

No. It came with XP MCE. I did a clean install. Everything was fine with XP though.

i have the hp/Compaq v2305 CA and installed vista ultimate on it and have had similar problems with it due to lack of drivers from HP for Vista, the fn buttons don't work properly and lots of things just don't work on laptops that can run vista but don't come with vista, try go to a best buy and see if they sell your model with vista preinstalled and since they offer the extra 3 year warranty they have drivers for all laptops that they sell so you could borrow the disk and burn a copy of it for your laptop, thats what i did for mine and they just gave me a binder with hundreds of driver disks in it and i just burnt my models vista drivers.
(hope that made sense)
