External monitors mostly have the same type of connector to attach to the computer. Do laptop screens have a similar connection from brand to brand? I want to transplant a LCD Screen from a Donor Toshiba 110CS laptop to a yearandahalfold IBM laptop.

Is this possible? Will I need some kind of adapter? Do they make the adapter I would need? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

I wouldn't count on this working. The problem is not completely the manufacturer of the laptop but also the manufacturer of the LCD panel. I have replaced many a laptop LCD panel and the same exact model laptops may have different screen vendors depending on the production run. These different screens make for different ribbon cables. the ends might be the same but where they connect on the back of the LCD may be different. With laptops the cables have to be exact as there is no room for storing an extra length of cable or it won't work because the cable is too short. As for adapters there is no room to put the adapter inside the screen housing or the housing of the laptop.
