Laptop LCD Screen replacement

I would like to know if it is possible to replace the LCD screen on my Compaq laptop which is cracked- with an LCD screen from a Dell laptop

Compaq, with a Dell screen? Not sure, but I think the plugs are different.
You might get away with a HP screen (I have one).
What model laptop is it?

is a compaq presario 1700 and Dell Latitude CPi A-Series - both same size screen
