Laptop LCD screen flickering

December 23, 2009 at 13:13:02
Specs: Windows Vista
After a 2 month vacation upon returning, i discovered when I turned on my laptop the screen seems to flicker.
1. In the beginning I only had to bend it at different angles in order to get the proper image and that method worked for awhile.

2.After a month the screen flickering got worst and opening, closing, and readjusting the angle didn't work anymore and I was require to hit the laptop multiple times and it was entirely luck if i got a proper image.

3. The hitting method even worked for me for awhile but now nothing seems to work. The screen is entirely black or white or the images are distorted. If i bend the screen a lot I can get the right display but as soon as I let go it goes back to being distorted.

The laptop works with an external display.I have opened the screen and reseated the cable and reconnected the screen to the inverter. I did notice a small tear on the LCD cable to the inverter but the wires weren't exposed. Any suggestion on how i should go about fixing this screen or do i need to purchase a completely new LCD screen.

It could by your ccfl bulb going bad, but it is most likely your LCD Inverter. It usualy sits behind the screen, It is easy to replace. Costs $ 50 to $ 100.
