I hope someone can help me. I have an ASUS M6NBe laptop. A few days ago, I accidentally cracked my LCD screen (it still works however, just has a huge crack on it). After finding out that it would cost around $700 to get it fixed by the manufacturer, I decided to take matter into my own hands.
Because I couldn’t find on the internet the exact name of the manufacturer of the LCD that is in my laptop, I had disassembled the laptop and took out the LCD. When I put it back in a new problem occurred – the screen is extremely dim. I read a bunch of posts and I know that the possible causes for this problem might include a damaged backlight or a broken inverter; however, since I hadn’t touched the inverter when taking out the LCD, I don’t see how I could have damaged it.
My theory is that the mechanism that indicates to the computer that the screen is up (and therefore indicating that the screen should light up) does not work. I have been trying to find what this mechanism is, but I had no luck. Unlike Compaq or some hp laptops, my ASUS laptop does not have the little pin sticking out that (just like in the refrigerator) indicates when the backlight should light up and when it shouldn’t.
Please help.
Thank you very much.
