Medion / 96630

Specs: Windows XP
I bought my Medion MD96630 laptop about 1.5 years ago. Yesterday I got a problem (very similar to described in after powering on the laptop shows cloudy-like grey screen which gradually fades out. The HDD led indicates the the system trying to start, but after a couple of minutes it hangs (no response to caps-lock/num-lock).
Is it recoverable?

I tried to connect an external monitor, but got nothing. On the screen you can see grey cloudy picture slowly fading away.

So the screen on the external monitor does the same thing then? If so, try booting to Windows safe mode to see if the screen is OK there.

Sounds like the graphics chip has gone out on you.

If you have one of the nVidia graphics chips that they have admitted is defective you may have some recourse.

Check your manual first then Google for results.
