Laptop LCD display flickering white lines?

Specs: Windows Vista
I noticed something was wrong when I booted
my laptop. The screen was white and didn't
show the toshiba logo. I wasn't sure then, but
now I know that when I touched the screen
(not the actual screen, just the lid) that it
showed the windows loading screen and then
went to the login as normal. Shortly afterward
the screen started to flicker and then it turned
white with lines flickering down the screen
usually pink, but now I see blue and purple as
well. Holding the lid towards me seems to
keep it from flickering, but now it seems even
that is failing. I am getting so mad that I may
never buy another toshiba laptop again. I have
had it for a little over a year and I have had to
replace the hard drive and am going to have to
replace the fans. These problems seem to me
to be planned obsolescences if you ask me
since they seem to be showing up so close to
each other.
