Laptop keyboard slow/lagging delayed response

January 16, 2010 at 16:02:01
Specs: Windows XP
When typing on my laptop, some keys do not register the first time. It seems the problem is with the computer not with cleaning the keyboard. I can continually press the same key with the same force and only about 4 out of 5 will register into the computer. This began the day I bought the computer. The space bar seems to be the worst. Almost like the computer is thinking of something else while I'm typing.

... does'nt sound like a new laptop or maybe its been on the shelf a long time.

... had same sort of problem with a laptop resolved by removing the keyboard and using a toothbrush on the keyboard ribbon contact!

... ribbon slider connection socket

Got same situation with my H-P one. Comes from pushing down on the keys at slight angle with your fingers. Thus wearing the shafts and the contacts. On mine they jamb about 2/3rds the way down, and this get omitted letters.

Need one of the spray lubricants talked about here, and begin looking for another keyboard.

As mine is so old, had to use a docking station and separate keyboard then.
