About 4 months ago, my laptop keyboard was acting up. Since then, it has gotten worse. Some of the keys will do nothing when pressed. Sometimes functionality comes back, but they mostly never work. It just so happens to be the same keys in a row on the keyboard (vertically). 6,Y,H,N,7,U,J,M are the keys that normally fail to work. I'm using an external PS/2 keyboard right now, which is working fine. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, it would be most appreciated. Im trying not to spend too much money on getting it repaired. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 2805-S401. Thanks in advance for any help!

Justin,
I have got a very similar problem months ago and I tried to fix it then...I couldn't, it got worse. So, to solve the problem I bought two keyboards for my laptop. It is a digital VP 745, I contacted compaq since they bought digital and they told me they have those keyboards in stock, 23 dollars a piece. So, bought 2, replaced the old one and kept the another as backup (they are more likely to discontinue the keyboard by the time I need a new one).
Finally, my advice, contact toshiba and ask for the price of the keyboard, buy one or two, and get it replaced yourself...all you need is a screwdriver and time to figure how take off the broken keyboard (yep, there is nothing you can do to repair it). It shouldn't be hard.-F

Thanks Francisco, I'll contact Toshiba in the morning. Hopefully I can replace the keyboard and that it doesn't cost too much. Again, thank you very much.
-Justin
