Hi - I am hoping someone can help me. I recently (via USB) connected a separate keyboard to the laptop as I needed to use the number pad for some accounting work. Although this wasn't the first time I had used an external keyboard, just recently by plugging it in, it has then corrupted the laptop keyboad - e.g the quick brown fox sentence on the laptop is now: the q45c2 br6wn f6x 140-ed 6ver the 3azy d6g.
I switched off and let the laptop run its diagnostics and that seemed to work (no external keyboard attached) but since plugging in my camera to the USB port that now too has done the same thing to the laptop keyboard ...... any ideas please?

It sounds like numlock is still on...

You know the laptop keyboard has a numpad too right? It just shares keys to save space.

Look on those keys - there should be numbers on them.

Need to turn numlock off.
