Solved Laptop IDE HDD not detected?

June 21, 2012 at 15:26:59
Specs: N/A, Intel Pentium 1600mhz/ 512mb
I have a HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop, and the hdd is not being recognized. I access BIOS change the boot order and this does not help, nor the diagnostic test in BIOS work, is says "No IDE device". I booted into Ultimate Boot CD and ran a hdd diagnostic tool but no hdd is being identified. I tried reinstalling windows xp but installation doesn't find the ide drive. When I turn on the laptop I get the following error:

For realtek RTL8139 (X) /8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet controller v2.13 (021015)
PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable
PXE- MOF exiting PXE ROM

Is my IDE driver damaged?

✔ Best Answer
If the BIOS fail to recognize the HDD don't waste your time with diagnostic tools.
The error message u got is the system trying to boot from network(because no hdd is present).
Do u have another similar hard drive?

Put your 2.5 inch drive in enclosure and try it in another working system.
