Laptop Hung up on boot

Specs: Windows XP
Is there a way to reset CMOS setting in a laptop? The system boots up but once you click on the log in it goes to log off. It is not loading the start up data,

Doesn't sound like a CMOS problem.

Sounds like a windows problem

I agree with clive_pearce
it sound like windows problem, try to go in safe mode(tap f8 when pc start and select safe mode)

Tried that and it is in a constant reboot when I try that. I feel that Windows has a corrupt start-up file. The only problem is I never made recovery disks from the recovery drive. I can't get into any dos commands as well.
