Hi there, one of the mouse buttons for my touchpad is sticking badly and was wondering if anyone knows how to clean under them? Also the output for my headphones has a loose connection which i'd like to fix myself but am unaware of how to remove the outer casing.

Cheers pollenski

The sticky button may just be crud around the rim getting the edge of a cloth or an ear bud with cleaner on it may do the trick.

If you are very lucky, using something non sharp, you can prise the button free and clean it properly. If you realy do mess it up you can usualy but replacement touchpads

Pulling apart a laptop is akin to "Death by Small screw" you end up with hundreds of the little blighters of which only about 75% ever find there home again

I am not going to tell you to not have a go but do it slowly and systematically so that you know where the parts / screws belong - take photos if needs be

Hello pollenski, I had to take apart my laptop recently and I had never done it before. I searched for a technical manual in .pdf for my laptop and once I found it, I proceeded to take it apart. It is tricky and there are a lot of pieces and you basically have to take it completely apart to do most things to it. What I did is create little stips of paper describing where each piece or screws went. And place the item on top of the strip of paper. I took it apart in 45 mins, not it only takes mi about 20 mins. My best advice, look for the manual.

Ray

Thankyou for the tips - in cleaning my touchpad I used a thin piece of cardboard (From a pack of cigarette papers) with a frayed edge which worked ideally - still haven't had the tools (or balls) to take my laptop apart but will look for the manual and some small screwdrivers - might wait till after xmas and look in a cracker!

Thanks again
