my relatives laptop, bought in taiwan, boots to a blue screen everytime. all it says is hard failure. should i assume that it is referring to the hard drive, or can it be something else?

oh, the laptop is an asus A6000. to my knowledge, this happened without any warnings, it just failed to boot one day.

i'm currently installing xp onto the other partition of the drive.

If you can load XP the hard drive may have issues or the laptop may have issues. The exact error message would be help as well as some more details.

i did try safemode, and it didn't do anything.

okay, so the problem kind of fixed itself. i was installing xp on the 3rd partiton, and something came up, so i canceled it halfway, and then afterwards the computer booted up normally.
