my relatives laptop, bought in taiwan, boots to a blue screen everytime. all it says is hard failure. should i assume that it is referring to the hard drive, or can it be something else?

If you can load XP the hard drive may have issues or the laptop may have issues. The exact error message would be help as well as some more details.
