Comment:

Laptop gets stuck on FDD and does not give the display. If I insert a floppy the FDD light goes away but no display. I used setup diskettes and got the same result. Once in a while after 100 power on/off sequences the display comes up as if it is just a fluke. Even when it is on after a while it restarts by itself.

Removed the battery and tried. No result.

PSU is good.

How do I get it to to display?

Appreciate any help.

Have you flashed the BIOS at all?

I can't even get to the setup. When I get to the display(which is unlikely) F2 does not work. Is there an alternative?

Now I got the display and I selected safe mode with command prompt. Is there something I can do at this time to correct the problem?

Thanks

When the system came up I set up the boot to run from CD and got the following message when I ran the diagnostics.

FAiling components:
IDE Disk #0 (PM)
USB Controller

Is there something I can do to correct?

It sounds that the motherboard in the computer is failing. Since it's a laptop, there really is nothing you can do, except get the board replaced...
