My Sony vaio laptop doesnt charge its battery. The outlet from the adapter seems to be loose and doesnt stay in place on the laptop. i either have to hold it in by pressing it or use it on battery which runs out really fast. The charger(adapter) and the battery are fairly new. It seems the problem is in the laptop - the place where the charger plugs in. It is out of warranty so i cant take it to sony.

your cheapest solution is to replace the AC adapter. If it turns out the power plug on the system board is loose, that's a much more costly repair. Since it's out of warranty, you might want to take it to a Sony Authorized service depot and have them take a look. It may cost a few bucks, but they'll tell you exactly what needs to be fixed, then you can decide if it's worth spending the money to repair it.

Thanks, I actually bought a new acadapter when the problem first started and discovered the problem wasn't with the adapter but with the computer. I guess I'll start looking for a Sony authorized service depot.
