hi all

i have a year old laptop that can't "see" it's battery but runs from it ok

it won't boot from the battery but once started from the mains the ac cord can be pulled and it will continue to boot and run off the battery...

when the ac cord is pulled the screen dims, as it always does when it switches to battery, but the power icon on the tool bar still shows the ac cord connected

also after running on battery for some time when the ac cord was connected it used to go into a charge mode and a yellow light would blink, but now as it thinks there is no battery that light never blinks, i don't know if the battery is charging or not and don't want to flatten it to find out...

the battery itself contacts to the computer with 7 connections that all seem clean

are there any known software issues with xp pro and laptop batteries like this or continue trying hardware checks?

Try another battery to further isolate the issue or contact the manufacturer @ least it is just a year old.

You may also want to go to the manufacturer website and get an updated bios and flash it.

If yo udont know how get some help from someone who is comfortable doing this.

This could just be a glich with the bios.

Try that before replacing the battery...
