Hi all!
When I turn on my laptop it boots up slower than usual and once it reaches the desktop it seems to just freeze. Even when I click on the start menu nothing happens, I cant even turn it off from the start menu! I don't know where to start investigating! The laptop (Packard Bell EasyNote Model: Hera GL) is only 6 months old. I've looked on the Packard Bell support website and cant even find the model!!
Please can anyone help, it would be much appreciated!!!

Try Startup in SafeMode.

Try holding down F8 during bootup, select Safe Mode from the Menu. If it starts in Safemode you may have a Driver Problem.

Look in Device Manager for Yellow "?" or "!". Right click on the Device with Yellow, select Uninstall, then reboot.

To Get to Device Manager, Click Start>right Click My Computer>select Properties, click the Hardware Tab, click on Device Manager tab.

If more than one device is marked, Uninstall 1 at a time. Write down which devices are Marked in Yellow.

The un-installed device will be re detected and installed on boot up. Watch the Ballon Pop-up by the System Tray (Clock) and wait till the process is finished.

Post back here with results.

Write down DETAILS of any Error messages you may see.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Hey Dumbob, thanks for your reply. I've been able to boot up in safe mode and had a look in Device Manager for the yellow ? or ! but there are none!!
Do you have any other ideas??
I have most of my stuff backed up on a seperate hard drive so I'm not worried about wiping the whole computer to start again.
