My heart was broken when i found my faithful laptop died, here is the storyWhen it starts the laptop gets to the dell splash page and seams to load bios fine then the next screen ends up blank with the blinking cursor in the top corner. No message is displayed
The worst part is that the same happens if you try to enter bios menu or boot sequence.
I didn't change or install any hardware to the system it just stopped working, i would not rule out a virus but i`m not sure of the extent that viruses can penitrate
So basicly software wise i am powerless so there may be a hardware problem by my reasoning.I would really like to save this laptop if i can so any help would be greatly appreciated

From what you are stating above, it sounds like a hardware failure where it keeps freezing up your computer. From my experience i would say your Ram is probably causing the problem, however it could also be your motherboard or CPU but the ram is the first thing i would look at.

sometimes on PC's (not sure about laptops) if you leave a floppy or a cd in the drive on bootup it will hang with the cursor light blinking.
Can you boot to safe mode at all?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Do you have a floppy drive that you can boot with to check the hard dribve with free diagnostics from the manufacturer's site? If you can post your Service Tag (in the BIOS or on the outside of the case) we can assist.
