Reply: (edit)Its always a good idea to give a laptop battery a bit of work do from time to time. If you leave it in a fully charged state for a prolonged period of time it will deteriorate. Batteries thrive on hard work. Pull the mains plug out from time to time, about once a month should be enough, and let it drain the battery completely and re-charge. It will prolong the life of the battery. Leaving the battery in in the meantime wont do any harm. In fact some laptops wont work without a battery installed even with the mains plug plugged in. Stuart

Reply: (edit)Stuart gives good advice but I've found it to be hard to practice and I haven't noticed a prolonged battery life when I've tried to practice it. I'm on my second battery since I got my laptop 3 years ago and by the time this one goes, I'll probably be ready for a new laptop.
