Hi, I purchased an old laptop (Cicero P3 1Ghz). The battery LED is never on, and within windows, it says that battery is charaged 100%. I always run it on AC, and can't use the battery.

I have opened the laptop and checked the battery and it has around 4 volts.

What's the problem? Is the battery completely dead and not rechargeable??

Thank you.

It should put out a lot more than 4 volts. I would say that it's probably dead. You could take it to a shop to see if they can revive it, but i suspect that the chances are pretty slim.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
