got my laptop connected to a samsung SyncMaster 710v, just rebooted the computer, monitor screen just displays (Check Signal Cable)
You probably have to press a Fn key to divert it to an external monitor. You didn't list the brand and model #, so check your Help section on the computer or look in the manual or do a Google search for it.
