ok i just put this thing together and i ordered a 2800+ processor and its reading 2100 in the OS and on boot....i didnt set any jumpers on the motherboard or set any settings in the bios....i read somewhere about the cpu ratio jumpers but i have no clue what to set them on? can someone run me exactly thro what i need to do..or did they just send me the wrong processor?

Make sure your motherboard supportsxp 2800+. If your motherboard supports only xp 2100+, then your 2800+ will automatically underclock itself to a xp 2100+. If you are sure it is supported then, its because they probably send you the wrong proccessors.

Make sure your FSB is set to 166, check the BIOS.

If you look carefully on your Motherboard you should find a little set of 2 switches, these set your cpu clock. The same happened to my Athlon 2000+ with the switches being set on their default it was reading as a 1400+. If you look in your Mobo manual it should tell you what the combinations set the clock to, move it up one notch and then see if your CPU is recognised as a 2800+.
