Solved Kodak ESP5250 Scanner not scanning to size

Specs: Windows 8
I'm using a Kodak ESP5250 scanner/printer. When I scan, say a postcard, I get a full A4 scan with the postcard only appearing in the top corner. How can I get just the postcard without all the white area?

It's all in the software. I'm not familiar with that particular scanner but with mine, I can do a pre-scan, then crop to size, then do the final scan. Or you can always crop out the white areas afterwards.

EDIT: I found the explanation at the Kodak site, see the link below. Click Scan Documents and Pictures > Edit the scanned images > Crop

A4 is the default scanning area. To scan smaller items you have to adjust the scan area after performing the preview function. You do that by using the mouse to "drag" the dotted lines to just overlap the area you want to scan.

The scanner will then only scan what's inside the dotted lines, leaving out the whitespace.
