Knoppix 5.1.1 download, how to use??

May 6, 2009 at 20:42:31
Specs: Windows Vista
I hope this isn't a stupid question! From the Knoppix website, I see that I can download the CD version. Now here's the question: when I click to download, do I save it to my desktop? And if yes, then do I just burn the file to a CD? And if yes, will that burnt CD be ready to use in another computer with a bad hard drive, and be able to boot from this burnt CD? Sorry if this is confusing or stupid!

yes you should save the file to your desktop.
be aware that the file is an ISO image and is about 700MB in size. proceed to download only if you have a high speed (broadband) connection.
after downloading you don't just burn the file onto a CD.
you should use some software like cdrtools, nero to burn the image onto the CD. doing a goolge search for
"burning an ISO image" should help
after the CD is ready, you can use it to boot any machine provided it has BIOS support for booting from a CD, and the first boot device has been set to CD drive

i've switched to Linux!
