im thinking of getting Kingston HyperX ram or to stay with the ram i have now...
At the moment i have Kingston ValueRam which is a stick of 512pc3200 cl 2.5
If i was to get the same amount of ram also at pc3200 with the same cl (2.5) would i get any performance difference??
Would the only difference between these two types of ram is that one can be overclocked and one cant because of the heat spreader??
also....wat is this cl...does it make a difference if it is cl 2, 2.5,or 3 ??
thanks alot

The HyperX will give better performance but I'm not sure if you would be able to tell the difference. The main difference between the memory types is the latency settings. The HyperX is better memory that can handle the lower settings without introducing errors. Value memory would not be able to run at such settings properly. The lower the settings are, the more performance you should get.
CL refers to CAS (Column Access Strobe) Latency. When the number is two, the latency is every two clock cycles. When it is 2.5 or 3, the latency is every 2.5 or 3 cycles. This would mean that when it is set at two, the memory would be accessed more times than at 2.5 or 3, thus increasing performance.
Note, you should buy memory that would have the same settings. The settings you would set in the BIOS would be that of the slowest memory.

so if they were the same cas latency and of course the same 512 pc3200 would they perform just as good??
