Solved Keyboard unable to press F12 or del key to enter BIOS setup

Specs: Windows 7
blank screen just says press del to enter set up or f12 to enter boot menu, but no keys work, no beeps either but fan is running, and hard drive works, unfortunately dont have system discs,
its an acer aspire quite old, not mine but a friends so dont know what sytem it is working on, think it windows xp, any help appreciated. thanks

If the keyboard is wireless or is a USB keyboard that is plugged into a hub, expansion card, or some front USB ports it will not be recognized until after Windows is running and drivers are loaded. Try a hardwired USB keyboard plugged directly into one of the USB port directly on the motherboard in the rear, or use a PS2 keyboard (especially on older machines). You will also probably need to manually shut down and restart since it probably would not be recognized until then (not usually on USB, never on PS2).
He may be able to purchase recovery disk set for it from Acer, but you would still need a working keyboard to repair or reload.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
