Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the keyboard on this machine? It is like my old typewriter, after awhile my fingers become tired from having to use a certain amount of force to strike the keys.

Sounds like you just have a bad keyboard. Shouldnt have to press hard at all. Only thing you can do is replace it.
