I'm having an odd problem with my keyboard. I am on a laptop. Whenever I type the letter u in the contents of my text... the letter jumps to a line of previous text and proceeeds from there. It stays on that line until I mouse it back to where it ran off track. Help!

I would check to make sure the cable is connected properly / not kinked (that connects the keyboard to the motherboard)
And if you have access to another keyboard, try to swap and see if that fixes the issue.
This is all of course if you are comfortable opening up your laptop. Thanks for any input.

when you hit "U" the cursor jumps UP, which makes it sound almost like there's another key on your keyboard that's stuck down. Like, *something* + "U" is probably a shortcut for "page up" or something, possibly. if this was the case, rebooting would produce no change.
If it is a hardware problem with the keyboard, you should be able to use the build-in on-screen keyboard to click "U" without the cursor jumping up.
I would hit all of your CTRL, Start, Alt, Fn, (any shortcut keys you have), a few times each, and use some compressed air to blow out the keyboard.
