I stripped out the insides of my PC recently and replaced it with the following:
AMD Athlon 2400XP
MSI KT4 Ultra 6590
512Mb 333MHz RAM
GeForce FX5900 Ultra
SB Live!
40GB HD
100mbit Realtek NIC
plus DVD-ROM, CD/RWIt's all fine except for a strange problem - when I power on the PC I get this message "PS/2 keyboard connected incorrectly" or words to that effect. If I power off and on again within a few seconds it POSTS and boots up fine, same if I do a restart. But if the PC is off for more than 10 secs or so I will always get this message first time.
The keyboard is connected, I have checked loads of times. And no it's not in the mouse port!
The only bit I didn't upgrade was the PSU, it is only a 300W. My sneaking suspicion is that this is a power supply issue, I would be grateful for some second opinions though. Or maybe a bug in the BIOS?
Thanks in advance. =o)

For that system 300W sound a bit on the low end. I don't know much about the internal design of psu's or mainboards but it maybe possible that the psu is not able to support enough power at the moment of a fresh startup and your keyboard is the device that gets not enough power for a few moments.
If you get a new psu I suggest 400W or 450W and take no noname product!About the bios check for newer version and take a look in the history to see what they changed. If there is something about keyboard or ps2 you should update.
Maybe you should try an update anyway but read the instructions before!

Thanks buddy.
I think I will try the BIOS update first as it's free, although doing BIOS updates always scares me!
If that doesn't help I'll have to get a 400W PSU. I've heard the same as you about them, if you get a cheap one then 400W on the sticker doesn't always been 400W output.
thanks for the help anwyay
