keyboard makes clicking sound

February 10, 2010 at 04:01:25
Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 1.833 GHz / 2045 MB

My keyboard has developed a very annoying clicking sound over the speakers every time a key is pressed, even when the computer is muted. It has been recently repaired by dell technicians and has come back with this annoying click. it's as if the computer has frozen and too many keys have been pressed, but it's not frozen. I am a beginner and have no clue how to stop this. HELP???

Might not be a hardware defect. Intentionally clicking keyboards used to be common and even desired. Sometimes that feature could be enabled in cmos/.bios setup, sometimes it was the keyboard itself. There's even software that adds the click:

Or could it even be an option within Vista? Check the keyboard options in control panel.

Most likely one of the above is the reason for the clicking. But have you tried a different keyboard?

Post back after the Dell people take a look at it. I'd be interested to know what was causing it.

They replaced the keyboard, it still beeped. They then replaced the mother board. It has now peacefully stopped...
I'm betting a faulty computer, It's an inspiron . 1520 Laptop. It has had the mother board replaced 4 times in 2 months. I don't treat it improperly, it doesn't even move much, but the mother boards, useless...
Thanks again for all ur help...
Happy solving... ;-D
