Keyboard lights up, then dies.

Hello/. I just bought a new motherboard, the foxconn g31mx-k, and when the systems goes through POST everything is fine, I can hear the HD being checked and the lights on the mouse and keyboard light up. right after the POST screen the foxconn main screen pops up to enter the bios, but I cant use the keyboard!
This keyboard was working fine, literally 4 hours ago on my Pentium 4. its a PS/2 keyboard. How can I get this fixed? No keyboard=no mobo. The connector is fine because the lights light up,

Ok, this might not be clear but, given than the lights turn on on the Keyboard, does this indicate the PS/2 port is working? It does get power, so the connection is fine I think. Now also it could be a controller problem. I reset the CMOS and reset the bios by taking out the battery all to factory standards yet I still have the problem.
Summary: The PSU has very old connectors I guess cause I've only seen them once so I don't have access to another one. If I only knew what the blinking keyboard lights meant then at least I'd have a clue. The ...
