When I try to boot this machine, I get the message: Keyboard is locked out-Unlock the Key CMOS Checksum error - defaults loaded. I have no key switch on this machine and no plug on pins on motherboard. Have reset the CMOS and same thing. Removed all devices, except video card. Have tried this keyboard on another machine and it works fine. Checked on web and have found nothing that helps. The board is P6LX-A+. I have removed the board and checked for damage, but did not see anything, should have tried to boot with it out, will try that next if no suggestions. Really need some help.

`CMOS Checksum error' normally indicates that the motherboard battery needs to be replaced.

Test your CMOS battery to see if it is good. Sounds like a bad battery and it is loading defaults on start up because it can't remember your previous settings because the battery is failing.

Your ECS system board supports "Keyboard KeyLock" through the J3 connector. Normally this goes to a keylock switch on the case somewhere. Double check the J3 connector and the wires plugged into it. There are 20 pins. Pins 1-3 should connect to the Power on LED on the case. Pins 19-20 are the Power On switch.

Pins 11-12 are the Keyboard Lock. Make sure there are no wires on these two pins. Make sure the Reset Switch goes to 9-10 and the Speaker plug is 13-16.

If there are no wires on 11-12 (try removing them if there is) make sure they are not shorted somehow. You could try shorting them and see if it effects the problem.

And make sure the CMOS battery is OK. So that you don't get the loading defaults. Check the JP3 jumper (three pins) is in the normal position and has not been moved to the Clear CMOS position (or is missing).

I have checked all the items that have been suggested, except the battery. After posting my message last night, I was checking web and found information and most said the same, the battery is probably the problem. I will get a new one today and post back what I find out later this evening. Thanks for the help.

Just to let you guys know that the new battery did not take care of the problem, it is still the same. I got my meter from work and checked the old battery and it was 3.05 volts, so really dind't need it, but cost was small, now I have a new one. Ha! After this didn't work, I removed the motherboard from the case and with only video card, keyboard and mouse I tried it and still the same. Next I hooked this keyboard up to a computer that is setting right next to it and keyboard works fine. So looks like I have a bad motherboard. Unless someone else has some ideas for me to try. I did try shorting the pins that are for the keylock, thinking maybe if it was it, that it might open up. Thanks for all the help.

I got exactly the same problem with my P6LX-A+. After upgrading to BIOS Version 4, this error occurs all the time. Checked Keylock, Battery, whatever. I'm guessing the Bios does not work properly with the Board revision 1.1A, and so it's most likely wasted.
