How do you know it tested ok if it doesn't work?

You might try creating a bootable CD with an operating system on it such as Hiren's boot CD and see if your keyboards work in that.

Hi Que2,

a) Did you buy the correct keyboard for this laptop and is it *NEW*?

b) Does it have the same part number as the one it is replacing?

You advise the original fault is that some keys do not type, therefore I would expect the new keyboard to:-
i) either work correctly or
ii) have the same keys NOT typing as before, proving the fault is not the kb.

However you advise the kb does not work on your laptop, suggesting:-
i) either (a) and/or (b) above have NO answers
ii) the kb is faulty
iii) you did not fit the new kb correctly.

Good Luck -Keep us posted.

Good Idea never thought of that Ideal for futute checks.
Sending keyboard back to supplier for testing/replacing as the last 2 Nos indicate the keyboard is for the netherlands.
Thanks for your help

HI Que2,

you have not advised your location (Town/Country) but presumably you are in Europe.

The new kb was for the Netherlands, but this should not stop it working on your laptop, as the only difference is some keys are printed with characters used in the Netherlands, but not elsewhere. e.g. here in the UK, kb's have the £ sign (shift + 3).

If your original kb has been refitted and stills works/fails in the same manner, clearly there was a deeper fault in the new kb.

Good Luck -Keep us posted.
