Currectly using Home XP
AMD XP 3200 (400)
1024 DDR 3200 (400) Ram
160 GB SATA HD
Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 Motherboard
NVidia G Force FX5200 (128mb) Graphics Card99.9% of the time the PC is stable, in fact I have no problems what so ever until I try the following.
Converting files to DIVX (or similiar).
I have used three different programs including DIVX converter and the program that came with my TV card. On all three occassions after getting about half way through the conversion the PC will crash giving me a report ----
Hardware failure: replace failed component.
Thank you for submitting an error report.Problem description
The error was caused by an unrecoverable hardware error which forced the operating system to stop functioning.
Although we know the problem is caused by a hardware component, unfortunately the error report does not contain enough information to tell us the specific component. More than likely the problem is being caused by problems with one or more of the following computer components:
Random Access Memory (RAM)
System board
Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Power supplyWhilst doing the converting, the CPU temperature goes up about usually about 4 or 5C to 55C (pending the time of the year) and the Performance CPU usage is 100%
Can anyone suggest what might be the real problem.......... could it be I need more RAM or something
Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated

I would suggest a couple of hardware tests.
Memory tests
Memtest has an ISO for creating a CD
http://memtest86.com/
or
Docmem
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3001-2094-1534814.htmlRun each test overnight. Any failure at all is unacceptable.
You could also run chkdsk /r
This will check the hard disk for flakey sectors. You might want to run it overnight also, because it takes a long time.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
