Ok, so this is entirely off topic, but I am doing some research for a project at school. I am supposed to be finding information about my future career, and I thought maybe a few of you professionals out there could help me out! I need to know the approximate salary of an entry level Computer Tech. at a semi-large company. And Also the salary of someone in the higher ups of a computer company at about 8 years?
I know this is not exactly the place to ask this question but I thought that a few people could anonymously help me out!

-thanks in advance

It will all depend on what certs you have, to begin with, and what sort of tech you are.
If you start as a call center tech, don't expect a lot of money or respect...or job security for that matter!

What you get paid is going to vary from state to state and the size of the company you work for. Certs are good to have by a lot of employers have become very wise to what we refer to, as "paper techs" look good on paper but when it comes down to resolving an issue they don't have a freaking clue.

Your basic entry-level tech might make 20 - 25K with an A+ Cert and someone with 8yrs in a large company should be making at least 30K a year.

You also have to consider other perks. Company car, that is worth a few thousand right there alone, do they pay for Bennies? Some of us might take a lower income job cause the bennies out way a company that pays a little more but in the long run I would spend more. Ok, enough from me.

It's very unfortunate; two years ago MCP certified techs were the hottest thing in the job market; you could post your resume on Jobmonster, and sit back and wait for the phone to ring. Then corporate
America got wise, and hired out most of their support work. They call it "Offshoring". A customer calls for tech support and gets someone he can hardly understand, who is one step above a trained chimp. What he doesn't know is he is calling Bombay, India on a dedicated line, and the "tech" on the other end has had a whole 3 weeks of "training" and is being paid $1.50/hr. American. But the manufacturer doesn't give a *%$# because he is fulfilling his "obligation" to give his unsuspecting customers "tech help".
