Okay all here we go.

A few weeks ago my CPU fried. I took my 2 hdds configured in raid 0 and put them in another machine to get some data from them. With a little effort and some help from you folks everything went well.

Now I have replaced the CPU all is up and running again. I have decided I want to wipe my drives (format) and do away with the raid 0 as it is too much trouble getting data after a problem and I have found that for what I do raid is just not needed.

I have installed an older IDE drive ( Maxtor) to use for back up. At the moment it has a copy of win 98se on it and some old data that is also unneeded. I plan to format it to do this. However my system doesn't seem to detect that drive. Since the other 2 drives are Sata do I need to set the jumper on the IDE to Slave? Oh my optical drive is Sata as well, the only IDE is the old Maxtor. I know the drive works it came out of a system that was running 20 minutes ago.

Should I maybe boot with the floppy Diagnostic disk for the Maxtor?
