Subject: Jumpering Panel on Gigabyte GA-7ZXEOS: Windows 98seCPU/Ram: 256 ram 800 duron |
Comment: I am a complete newbie when it comes to fitting motherboards. I have replaced my PC Chips motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE board. http://uk.giga-byte.com/products/products.htm I have followed the instructions step by step.....system jumpers/CPU/RAM/Expansion cards/Ribbons,Cabinet wirers etc but here I have come really stuck (and I thought I was doing ever so well:-( . When I turn on the power I get nothing whatsoever on the motherboard EVERYTHING is dead. Obviously I double checked everything was firmly connected and it is in the correct place, but where I really have a problem and I am in real doubt is the correct way to connect the connections to the F Panel (2 x 11 Pins Jumper). I am not certain I have the connections round the correct way as I do not know which of the hole in each lead is Pin 1 or + or -. The leads I have are as follows:- Power LED O rown wire O nothing O black wire Power SW O black wire O white wire HDD LED O red O white Reset SW O grey O grey Speaker O red O nothing O nothing O black My Panel Jumper Looks Like This:- O - O O O O O O O - O O - O O O O O O - - O I hope the above makes sense and hope that one of you really kind people out there could spare me a little bit of your precious time and advise me. Many many thanks

Reply: (edit)hi....ignore johns comments,he obviously doesnt know much himself. anyway, i had a similar problem to you with the same board. i think the manual is printed incorectly when it comes to the power connectors, hdd led, reset switch etc. first thing to do is very carefully with a flat head screw driver try and short the pins which you believe to be the power ones. if you get nothing, try a diferent set, basicly untill you find the right ones. (you wont do any damage if you short the wrong pins) i hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)O OOOOOOO O O OOO(OO) O Power switch should connect to pins in ( ). Don't worry about + and -, if the LED's don't light, reverse polarity. Polarity does not matter on switches. The diagram in the manual is quite clear, assuming it is correct.

Reply: (edit)Many thanks for ALL your help. I have now sorted it. Once I managed to get the power and reset switches correct the rest was fairly easy :-) Once again I thank you all
