Subject: Jackbomb - QuestionOS: XPCPU/Ram: P3Model/Manufacturer: 1.0 |
Comment: Jackbomb, have you run Sisoft Sandra on your interesting P3 system yet? I made this public because I am curious to what kind of numbers you are getting for the RAM benchmark. I am getting about 800mb's a sec int and float using PC800 RDRAM, the bios is not letting me clock it correctly and only clocking it to 700mhz instead of 800mhz What kind of numbers do you get with PC-133? I assume that is what your P3 board uses? Thanks.

Reply: (edit)Actually I use DDR333 on the P3 rig. Of course, it's been slightly underclocked to DDR316 to match my current bus speed (158MHz). I'll post some numbers tonight once I get home from work. The Movie PC: Pentium III-S CPU: 1.66GHz, 158MHz FSB, 512K 2GB DDR333 7950GT AGP Vista/XP X-Fi Optoma 1280x720 projector JBL 5.1 audio and now 89 upconverted WMV-HD flicks

Reply: (edit)For some odd reason, SiSoft won't run on my rig. It installs, but I can't get it to "connect." Weirdest benchmarking program I've ever seen. But I did notice that Memtest86 displays how fast the L1/L2 cache and RAM are. According to memtest86, my DDR333@316MHz is transferring 860MB/sec. In comparison, I do have an old P3-800 with PC133 memory, and Memtest86 reports 270MB/sec on that machine. Reply: (edit)Yeah, Sandra(the latest) doesnt seem to run to well. I got it to run on my SP3 install, and my SP2 on my PIII. It would not run on the original XP build however. If your having connecting issues, try re-installing it, or if it is crashing upon connecting than you might want to check for an update.
