I've spilled some soda on it,what should I do

June 22, 2010 at 04:23:26
Specs: Windows XP, celeron T3100,1G
I've clean all the water, and can still start it,run
any programs. But it came a gentle noise which
I've never heard of.Maybe I just didn't notice the
noise.But I'm still kind of worried.Can this
accident create a noise?

P.S. This is a laptop, and the soda is Mirinda. If I leave my laptop alone for a while, this noise disappears. But when i start to use it,the noise comes again.

You spilled soda on what, the keyboard or the computer. Is it a laptop? If it still works, it didn't hurt it. Was it Coke or Pepsi, inquiring minds want to know :)

I tend to be more cautious and state that if in fact it was a laptop that you should still perform any recommended cleaning. The sugars in soda can reactivate and migrate at any time. In addition, the sticky nature of the corn syrup will attract dirt. That will probably eventually cause sticky keys.

Would have been nice for you to elaborate a little more.

Google for the issue.

If the damage is confined to the keyboard replacement will restore normal operation. If damage is more extensive replacement of the laptop will be the only reliable option. Liquids on electronic equipment are deadly. Soda is among the worst.

To The OP of this post - Why did you added P.S. This is a laptop, and the soda is Mirinda. If I leave my laptop alone for a while, this noise disappears. But when i start to use it,the noise comes again. to the original question after three users have responded?

Mirinda contains sugar, and once sugar liquid gets into the keyboard it will become conductive!
