Socket A is now obsolete and the performance gains between the two setups would be limited IMHO, it is time to bite the bullet, Sempron 64 are good value, though you would need to save up extra for a graphics card.

A Sepron64 754 is only $65:

A MoBo is $50:

Memory 512MB DDR400 (PC3200) $50

What you see is what you get, and what you get is what you see!

I wouldn't say the socket A format is obsolete (yet), but I do agree that for $150, you're money would be better spent on a S754 setup. I'd do it a little different than above though. The nForce3 250 chipset is a better than the VIA & the Sempron64 2800+ has 256k L2 cache, compared to the 2600+ which only has 128k. Although PC3200 RAM would be better, you could still use your PC2700.

And the Gigabyte board is fully overclockable:

- CPU FSB / Vcore Voltage adjustable via BIOS
- AGP Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
- DIMM Voltage / Clock adjustable via BIOS
