i actually posted this in 1 of the below PSU posts but since it has already hit the bottom, i am gonna make my own
recently i got a VIP SMPS from a vendor I know & it might be possible to send it back ( if required )
I checked http://www.chip-india.com/dcquery.p... which says that "A good smps is graded when it is heavy :), it has values of the range 25A, 25A and 20A for 3.3V, 5V and 12V respectively"
what i hav on 3.3v, 5v & 12v1 here is 22A, 16A & 15A (all which are under voltage heading)

i have an E6700 c2d with 7800 GT currently, i also have the x1950 ati radeon . is my PSU with or without 12 v rail or dual rail, i have 3 listings +3.3v, +5v, +12 v1
under voltage & have corresponding 22A, 16A & 15A
& under current i have 3 listings +12v2, -12v, +5vsb which have corresponding 16A, 0.8A & .5A
is the PSU efficient? i think a tad inefficient, should i look for 25A, 25A and 20A for 3.3V, 5V and 12V ??

Since Antec may be out the question for you because of how it is priced over there in India, you may find this pdf handy.

thanks i went thru the list that you provided me & strangely in that list i see that VIP 3.3V,5V & +12V have corresponding values as 27A, 26A & 18A for a 300W
but the ones on mine are 22A,16A & 15A & the one which I have is 500W
isn't something fishy?

Normally adding up the Wattage derivatives based on the Amp distribution on the different rails should corroborate what is disclosed on the label on the PSU in some way, but these days a lot of PSU vendors tend to exploit this loophole by displaying a Wattage figure & not specifying if it based on continuous power or maximum peak power. Some even would go as far just posting clearly bogus figures on there counting on the buyers ignorance of the variables to the total Wattage determinants.

With the figures you posted regarding your PSU - +3.3V, +5V & +12V being 22A,16A & 15A respectively, this comes out to 332.6W - a far cry from 500W. Suggesting something fishy is an understatement, what you've got at best is a piece of junk..................LOL

i wish i could express in words how greatful i am to you for providing those links, especially the second. Anyway i got the VIP 500 replaced with VIP 600W (even before i saw your post as i was in a real hurry) & now i have the following ratings for +3.3V, +5v & 12(V1 & V2) : 24A, 30A & 22A
which does sum up to 486 V
wow i know most local brands here suck but never expected this from V.I.P, what are your comments saber? i guess i'll have to get it replaced again?
& i am also concerned about the 12V having only 22A, would it be adequate? As the second link states that a system with a good GPU should have 24A
